I give practical advice on the relationship between bankroll size, game volatility, and realistic session expectations. I am sceptical of systems claiming to beat the house edge. I am equally sceptical of stake sizes that guarantee a short session regardless of strategy.

The stake-to-bankroll ratio

If your bankroll is $100 and your stake is $2, you have 50 bets before broke — fewer once you account for partial returns. On a medium-volatility slot, 50 bets may not be enough to experience the game's typical rhythm. On high volatility, it is a coin flip whether you see anything interesting at all.

Session goals versus session maths

Players often arrive with entertainment goals ("I want an hour of play") without connecting those goals to cycle rate and expected loss. At $1.20 per spin and 12 spins per minute, an hour cycles $864. At 95% RTP, expected loss is roughly $43. Does the entertainment budget match? Frequently not.

Naming these numbers is not anti-gambling. It is pro-informed-decision.
